BirdFest offers a major birding event in the wild and untamed Olympic Peninsula, hosted at the new facility of the Dungeness River Nature Center. The North Olympic Peninsula comprises a strip of coastlines and forests between the million-acre Olympic National Park and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. The steep rise of the mountains allows birders to sample coastal, riparian, forested and montane habitats in close proximity. The Dungeness River Watershed, for example, drops from 7800 feet to the sea in only 32 miles. The central location of the Dungeness River Nature Center puts all these habitats within reach of birders.

Participants can choose to visit Neah Bay near the northwesternmost point of the continental United States in the territory of the Makah Tribe, or to walk the longest natural sand spit in the nation at Dungeness Spit, now under management by the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe. The Elwha River, freed in 2014 by the largest dam removal project in the United States, offers riparian birding. Other field trips will explore Sequim Bay, Port Angeles Harbor, Dungeness Bay, Ediz Hook and wooded areas and fields.

Located inside the Leelanau State Park in Northern Michigan, The Grand Traverse Lighthouse has been guiding ships and sailors since it was built in 1852. The Grand Traverse Lighthouse has been restored and is open to the public seasonally. Visitors can tour the restored keepers dwelling and climb the Lighthouse Tower for a magnificent view of Lake Michigan and Grand Traverse Bay. The Lighthouse sits inside Leelanau State Park.
The Lighthouse is a great experience for kids of all ages. Your family can explore the museum’s hands-on exhibits, compete in treasure hunts, and enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan, all while experiencing the history of the state up-close and personal. Families can also take advantage of Leelanau State Park’s nearby playground and covered picnic areas.

The Leelanau Historical Society was launched in 1957 by a group of residents dedicated to collecting and preserving Leelanau’s history. Leland, first established in 1853 and later the county seat, seemed the natural location for the Society. When the old county jail became available in 1959, the museum found its first home. Through generous donations and grants, a new museum was built in 1985 and expanded in 2005 and 2015.

Today, the collections and archives contain more than 20,000 items. Visitors to the museum learn about Leelanau life and maritime history from exhibits, educational programs and publications. Recipient of the 2014 State History Award for Outstanding Local Society, LHS continues to collect, document and preserve items relating to Leelanau history.

The Arts Center is a ground-breaking facility that provides expanded opportunities for youth and adult art education and training, nurturing of local arts organizations, increased access to local, regional and national artists and increased opportunity for individual artists to teach and demonstrate their craft. It is the first site constructed in Hillsboro with the intention of showcasing cultural events and providing community-centered education in the arts. The establishment of the Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center programs enables the City of Hillsboro to expand the services available to its residents and the surrounding community.

The Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center houses a 200 seat performance/event space, six classrooms, gallery, kitchen, box office and beautiful outdoor grounds, including two terraces. The Center offers courses and workshops with an emphasis on ceramics and visual arts classes while also offering classes in theater, drawing, music, fiber arts, as well as providing a community location for banquets, meetings and cultural events. The Center is a showplace for the arts and a vibrant representation of Hillsboro's commitment to culture and the arts.

Since the Glenn & Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center opened in 2004, we have offered a wide variety of enrichment experiences to the Hillsboro community. Thousands of visitors have attended art exhibits, concerts, classes, lectures, and other special events. Many people have rented our facility for weddings, holiday parties, fundraising auctions and other special events.

The mission of Portland Baroque Orchestra is to produce intimate and historically-informed interpretations of music composed before 1840.
Founded in 1984, Portland Baroque Orchestra is the third-largest period performance orchestra in the United States. PBO specializes in works of the Baroque and Classical eras, but also explores the musical world outside of those time constraints, performing with period instruments or replicas of instruments that were available when the music was composed. This means that our concerts feature familiar instruments that may look or sound a little different (for example, violins with gut strings or flutes made of wood and bone) as well as instruments that are no longer a part of the modern orchestra (like the theorbo). Led by Artistic Director Monica Huggett, the orchestra thrives on spontaneity, playfulness, and extraordinary artistry. PBO seeks to recreate the live music experiences of history by presenting the highest level of music performance in intimate venues.

The Bay Community Theatre Organization was founded in December 2018 to continue the long legacy of a community-oriented movie house in the heart of Suttons Bay. For more than 70 years The Bay has been a place for the community to come together to enjoy wonderful films and live events.
We operate the theatre with a small paid staff and dedicated volunteers. The organization relies on ticket and concessions sales, theatre rentals, donations, corporate sponsorships, and patron memberships. Members elect the board of directors each year in our annual meeting in February.
The board of directors of the Bay Community Theatre is an active group of volunteers who remain quite engaged with the theatre’s operation. The board meets monthly on the second Monday each month. Youth Music Project’s mission is to provide outstanding rock, pop, and country music education for youth by offering tuition assistance, instrument rental, and exceptional, state-of-the-art performance opportunities!

We are a tightly-knit group of inspired, engaged and encouraging educators and musicians who believe that every student deserves to access music education, regardless of income.

YMP students can sign-up for Group Music classes or Private Music Lessons in Guitar, Drums, Electric Bass, Violin, Piano, Ukulele or Vocal for kids, teens and adults. Rock Band and Tools of Rock are available for students starting the fourth grade. We also provide Early Childhood Music Classes geared toward ages 1-6 years.
Youth Music Project also offers Tuition Assistance for students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program at school.

To a lovely and unique little art studio. My Little Monét specializes in small classes that provide one-on-one instruction so that your child can learn art techniques and skills in an effective and creative way. I offer age appropriate after school and winter/spring/summer studio camps. No school day workshops, and Wednesday early release art camp is available. Seasonally I hold a gallery show to bring families together to view the amazing artwork that your child has created. This will be complete with professionally hung artworks, snacks and beverages, and a personal description of your child's artwork. You child will not only learn art techniques and different mediums, they will have more confidence, make friends, and open up their creative minds to the exploration of art.

NWCT was founded in 1993 by three visionary leaders who saw a need for more arts and educational programming for youth in the Portland area. From humble beginnings lead by dedicated volunteers, NWCT began its first season by offering classes to a handful of students, and producing their first show, Winnie-the-Pooh. According to NWCT Founder and Managing Director, Judy Kafoury, “We started with a desk, a phone, and $6000 in the bank. By the end of the year, the company had grossed over $275,000. We knew we were here to stay.”
Pinocchio 2010By the end of that first year, it was clear that NWCT’s innovative youth arts programming was something Portland wanted and needed, and NWCT continued to expand to meet the needs of the community. More families came to plays, and more children took classes. As patronage increased so did programming; the company began scheduling weekday matinees for student field trips and offering theater classes in area schools. NWCT’s artistic quality was recognized with numerous awards, and quickly became one of Portland’s most respected and beloved arts institutions for children.

Our Mission is to offer affordable, top-notch after school fine art classes and summer art camps for prepared K-12 students with the goal of supporting young Artists in acquiring the skills necessary to express their own unique ideas more fluently through visual art. We are a federally-recognized 501(c)3 organization and Foundation 11 Art School. We rely on tuition, grants and donations to operate programs. Every child’s life and diverse experiences are respected. Our goal is to ensure that students are truly seen, valued and feel a sense of belonging and safety during self-expression. Students feel a sense of community during sharing times, art shows and the support they receive from schools, teachers, friends, instructors and peers. Many families recognize the value of a fine art education, but cannot afford it. Students should be able to experience art classes based on their motivation, interest and natural gifts, and not be excluded by their family’s financial limitations or circumstances.
